Assessment
Mission
The Assessment Office within the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences (ASC) supports assessment practices to improve student learning through evaluation of outcomes in general education and major programs of study.
Goals
- Ensure assessment is practiced with integrity throughout ASC
- Facilitate improvement in the quality of the curricula and instruction based on information about student learning
Our work is guided by:
- The vision and strategies expressed in The Ohio State University Academic Plan to:
- Improve the quality of the teaching and learning environment
- Enhance and better serve the student body
- The commitment across the five ASC colleges, described in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences Mission Statement, to:
- Excellence in teaching
- Providing the highest undergraduate general education curriculum for all students
Services
- Assist with assessment initiatives
- Coordinate assessment activities across the five colleges and interdisciplinary programs
- Collate evidence of effectiveness
Oversight
The work of assessment is the shared responsibility of all involved in teaching and learning.
- The ASC Committee on Curriculum and Instruction (CCI) and its subcommittees have formal oversight responsibility for assessment across the five ASC colleges.
