Community Partnerships Office

The mission of the Community Partnerships Office is to serve as a proactive liaison between the five colleges of the Arts and Sciences (Arts, Biological Sciences, Humanities, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Sciences) and organizations and people outside the university, helping to navigating the university’s internal structures.

We have two central areas of focus:

  1. Expanding and supporting connections with community organizations across Ohio and in some cases, around the world, through service-learning and internship opportunities for students, and research and teaching opportunities around community issues for faculty.

    This area of work includes:
    • Development of a nonprofit advisory board
    • Working with units inside and outside ASC (e.g., Glenn School of Public Affairs, Department of Art Education) to coordinate nonprofit management coursework
    • Development of curricular infrastructure for service-learning courses
    • Working with ASC Career Services and college and departmental career services offices to connect internship opportunities with appropriate fields

  2. Forging and strengthening connections among ASC faculty and students and Ohio public school students, their families, and their teachers. These connections integrate the Ohio State Academic Plan’s strategy to “significantly strengthen the scope and effectiveness of our commitment to P-12 public education” with the recruitment of prospective students.

    This area of work includes:
