Mission
The Colleges of the Arts and Sciences (ASC) is united by the common commitment across the five colleges to excellence in: disciplinary and interdisciplinary research; performance and productivity in creative arenas; teaching in undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs; and providing, in collaboration with colleagues in the professional schools, the highest quality undergraduate general education curriculum for all students at the university. Moreover, the ASC is also committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise across the colleges with local, national, and international communities in support of responsible and meaningful applications of that knowledge and expertise in addressing complex issues.
To achieve preeminence in these realms, the ASC supports and encourages: research, scholarship, and creative endeavors that result in a measurable impact nationally and internationally; hiring, developing, and retaining world-class faculty and high performing staff; the development of innovative disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs; and the engendering across all of our areas of an academic community that is diverse, supportive of success for all members, and high achieving.
