Message from the Dean
At Ohio State, we use many calendars, but for more than 90 years the quarter system has defined the new year as beginning with autumn quarter and has signaled a time for renewed commitments, promise, and change.
As we embark on the last year of the quarter system at Ohio State, we remind ourselves that change is constant, independent of the ways we organize time, and promises need continuous effort to be kept.
I want to assure you that we work unceasingly to keep our promises and to make sure that our changes are positive.
Right now, we are actively engaged as a college in strategic planning that will define a vision for the restructured arts and sciences for the next five years. Our departments and programs have begun discussions to move us forward.
By early spring we hope to have a plan that not only encourages cooperation and collaboration across our college, but serves as a model for such engagement between colleges across campus.
We have many exciting new changes to share with you. Please let us hear from you.
JOSEPH E. STEINMETZ, PhD
Executive Dean and Vice Provost
College of Arts and Sciences
