Mission

The Colleges of the Arts and Sciences Curriculum and Assessment Office supports assessment practices to improve student learning through evaluation of outcomes in general education and major programs of study.

Goals

  • Ensure assessment is practiced with integrity throughout the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences
  • Facilitate improvement in the quality of the curricula and instruction based on information about student learning

Our work is guided by:

  • the vision and strategies expressed in The Ohio State University Academic Plan to:
    1. Improve the quality of the teaching and learning environment
    2. Enhance and better serve the student body
    3. Develop academic programs that define Ohio State as the nation's leading public land-grant university
  • the commitment across all of the units within the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences described in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences Mission Statement to:
    1. Excellence in teaching
    2. Providing the highest undergraduate general education curriculum for all students

Oversight

The work of assessment is the shared responsibility of all involved in teaching and learning. The Colleges of the Arts and Sciences Committee on Curriculum and Instruction (CCI) and its subcommittees have formal oversight responsibility for assessment across all academic programs within the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences.
