Academic Divisions

The College of Arts and Sciences is made up of 38 academic departments organized by fields of study and grouped into one of the three divisions below.

Arts and Humanities

Arts and Humanities is the cultural heart of Ohio State. Together, the students, faculty, and staff form an intellectual and artistic community, whose goals include academic excellence, enhancing the student experience, engagement with the community, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and engaging with other cultures.

Natural and Mathematical Sciences at Ohio State are driven to tackle important global problems; make leading-edge discoveries that expand our knowledge base; and provide the training and encouragement to help students become successful members of the scientific community.

Social and Behavioral Sciences

Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) at Ohio State focus on the causes and consequences of human behavior. There are human dimensions to every policy matter and our priority is the discovery of new knowledge about behaviors and interactions among individuals, groups, and institutions.
