“Nationalist Frames of Memory and The Korean War,” Talk by Prof. Daniel Kim
Daniel Kim, Associate Professor of English at Brown University, will give a talk that examines a curious similarity between two state-sponsored sites of historical memory —the War Memorial of Seoul and the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. Both present the Korean War as an event whose meaning is discernible only insofar it is contextualized in relation to other wars.
Prof. Daniel Kim’s visit is co-sponsored by the Institute of Korean Studies; the Asian American Studies Program, the Department of English and the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
