Event Host: African American and African Studies

Rondee Gaines, Visiting Assistant Professor and Heanon-Wilkins Post-Doctoral Fellow; Department of Media, Journalism, and Film; Miami Ohio University, presents A New Race War in America: a Womanist Rhetorical Analysis of the RNA-11 Case.

She will explore black female revolutionary nationalists’ roles, activities, and discursive identity negotiation during the Black Power Movement. By examining Fulani Sunni Ali’s life and struggle against racism and patriarchy to advocate for Black Power and Black Nationalism, Professor Gaines locates Sunni Ali’s development in revolutionary consciousness in the movement and demonstrates how the activism of the citizen and former Minister of Information for the Republic of New Africa (RNA) was a continuation of the black women’s resistance tradition.

This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
