Add to Calendar 2012-05-03 16:00:00 2012-05-03 18:00:00 Annual Distinguished Lecture in Asian American History Event Host: Multiple Annual Distinguished Lecture in Asian American History Featuring Professor Erika Lee of the University of Minnesota, on Asian Americas: Transnational and Global Histories of Asian Immigration and the Making of the Americas. 2015 will mark the 450th anniversary of the beginning of the Manila galleon trade that brought Asian goods and peoples to the Americas for the first time. It will also mark the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Immigration Act which inaugurated the latest migrations from Asia. Lee will explore the rich and interconnected histories of Asian immigration to the Americas from the time of Columbus to the present. Drawing on research from North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean, she provocatively highlights why and how Asian immigration has been so important to the history of the Americas. Annual Distinguished Lecture in Asian American History

Featuring Professor Erika Lee of the University of Minnesota, on Asian Americas: Transnational and Global Histories of Asian Immigration and the Making of the Americas.
