Debt Burdens: Who Owes? Who Pays?

January 24, 2014
All Day
George Wells Knight House, 104 E. 15th Ave.

Event Host: Humanities Institute

A round table with Rachel Dwyer Sociology), Miranda Martinez (Comparative Studies) and Devin Fergus (AAAS/Glenn School).

As interest—financial and political—in various forms of debt keeps mounting, fundamental questions about where we are, and how we got here—and why—deserve some serious consideration. We ask who benefits from credit, who bears the costs, and where questions of social justice fit in.

This event kicks off a semester-long series of conversations about debt--personal, public, consumer, structural—and endebtedness.

Sponsored by the Humanities Institute in conjunction with this year's COMPAS (Conversations in Morality, Politics and Society) theme Public/Private.
