Add to Calendar 2014-01-06 05:00:00 2014-01-10 05:00:00 NSF Undergrad Ed Grant Workshops Event Host: STEM Initiatives STEM Initiatives will be hosting the campus viewing site for the upcoming web-based workshop series to assist prospective PIs who are applying to the new NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) grant program. The National Science Foundation's Improving Undergraduate STEM Education grant program supports the improvement of the undergraduate STEM education enterprise through funding research on design, development, and wide-spread implementation of effective STEM learning and teaching knowledge and practice, as well as foundational research on student learning. Upcoming workshop topics include: Proposal Strategies (Monday, January 6, in Smith Seminar Room, 1080 Physics Research Building) The goal of this workshop is to enhance the participants’ understanding of strategies for dealing with several important aspects of an NSF educational project so that they can more effectively address them in preparing proposals or in implementing funded efforts. Goals, Objectives and Evaluation Questions (Tuesday, January 7, in E100 Scott Laboratory) The goal of this workshop is to enhance the participants’ ability to write goals and the corresponding expected outcomes for an NSF educational project so that they can more effectively address them in preparing proposals or in implementing funded efforts. Project Evaluation (Wednesday, January 8, in E100 Scott Laboratory) The goal of this workshop is to enhance the participants’ understanding of evaluation concepts and methods so that they can more effectively work with an evaluator in addressing this important component in preparing proposals or in implementing funded efforts. Impact and Transportability (Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Smith Seminar Room, 1080 Physics Research Building) The goal of this workshop is to enhance the participants’ understanding of strategies for developing a project that is adaptable and potentially transformative so that they can more effectively address transportability and dissemination in preparing proposals or in implementing funded efforts. Broader Impacts (Friday, January 10 in Smith Seminar Room, 1080 Physics Research Building) The goal of this workshop is to enhance the participants’ understanding of strategies for dealing with broader impacts in an NSF educational project so that they can more effectively address this issue in preparing proposals or in implementing funded efforts.
