The Interdisciplinary Seminar in Literacy Studies for Graduate Students, or GradSem as it has come to be known, formed in 2005 to meet this objective. The group includes students at every stage of study from across the University. The co-chairs for 2014-2015 are Michael Harwick, a Ph.D. student in English, focusing on Nineteenth-Century Literature; Cynthia Lin, a Ph.D. candidate in Teaching and Learning: Foreign Second and Multilingual Language Education; and Sean Kamperman, a graduate student in the English, in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy.The first GradSem of the fall term focuses on whether and how reading and writing are solitary activities or collaborative ones. GradSem was organized by and for graduate students campus-wide.Lunch is provided by LiteracyStudies@OSU. Seating (and food) is limited.
