Abstract:
Higher education suffers from three serious problems: first, costs to students are rising faster than family incomes, making college increasingly less affordable; second,  a large percent of recent graduates are "underemployed," finding it difficult in some cases to meet student loan obligations, and, third,  college  students are spending  less time on academics than middle school students but earn high grades for little effort and real learning.  As the public begins to realize this, enrollments are starting to fall; hundreds of colleges will go broke in the coming decade; "creative destruction" is coming to higher education.
