Sara Mitchell, professor of political science at University of Iowa, will speak on "Cross Border Troubles? Interstate River Conflicts and Intrastate Violence". Her research finds that states experiencing conflict with other states over shared river basins are 800 percent more likely to also experience internal conflict, and that water quantity issues are the strongest factor.
