Ohio State School of Music and Office of Diversity and Inclusion are co-presenting The Ruby Elzy Story at the restored Lincoln Theatre in downtown Columbus. The trail-blazing soprano's story will come to life, with music that shaped her career performed by School of Music students. Included will be highlights from her career, including selections from Porgy and Bess, and acutal radio recordings by Ruby. Elzy came to study at Ohio State in 1927, before starting her path to Broadway and Hollywood. George Gershwin personally chose her to create the role of Serena in his masterpiece, Porgy and Bess.
