ASC Staff Professional Development Grants
General Focus: to support professional enrichment or development opportunities and specialized activities that re-focus the development or enhance the capacity of staff to perform at high levels of excellence, such as:
- Expenses for participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, training programs, or meetings
- Books, software, or materials related to the areas of professional development
- Equipment that broadens or deepens skills or advances an applicant’s professional development or career aspirations
- Child/elder care expenses necessary for participation in professional development opportunities/activities
Deadlines: Annually, application deadlines are:
- January 31
- May 31
- October 31
If any of the deadlines fall on a weekend, then applications will be due the following Monday.

ASC Outstanding Staff Awards
General Focus: to recognize staff members in the arts and sciences (with three or more years of service in the arts and sciences completed prior to the application deadline) who have demonstrated sustained excellence in overall job performance and have improved or enhanced work life and services of faculty, staff, students, and/or the university. Special consideration will be given to staff who have enhanced the visibility of the College of Arts and Sciences through interdisciplinary connections and/or community service. The nominee must hold a regular appointment (50% or more) to a Classified Civil Service or Administrative and Professional position. Previous Outstanding Staff Award winners are ineligible for nomination.
Deadline: May 21
- Demonstrate the nominee’s sustained excellence in overall job performance.
- Describe how the nominee has improved or enhanced work life and services of faculty, staff, students, and/or the university.
- Describe how the nominee has enhanced the visibility of the arts and sciences through interdisciplinary connections and/or community service.
- Include up to two letters of support from colleagues who have personal knowledge of and have benefited from the nominee’s contributions.
Outstanding Graduate Associate Teaching Award
General Focus: to recognize a College of Arts and Sciences graduate associate for excellence in teaching.
Deadline: December 9, 2011
Nomination Process: This award is unique in that the entire award process is administered by the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council. Students may submit nominations to the Arts and Sciences Student Council via an online nomination form.
Previous College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Graduate Associate Teaching Award winners are not eligible for this award.
NOMINATION FORM
- submit a curriculum vitae
- submit Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI) scores
- participate in an interview with members of Student Council
- allow a classroom observation.
Funding: A one-time award of $500 will be provided annually.
