Dr. Gordon P. K. Chu Memorial Scholarship
NOTE FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE CHU/RILEY/VPA AWARDS
Graduate students in Arts & Humanities are invited to apply for any one of the three $1,000 scholarships offered by the Division, the Chu, the Riley, and the VPA. Each graduate student may apply for only one scholarship program; apply for the one that is the best fit for you. If a candidate applies for more than one scholarship, the awards committee will select the competition for which the applicant most nearly qualifies. All applications, including letters of recommendation, are due to the College Office by February 22, 2013; decisions will be made by March 15. In the case of applications for travel, the travel must begin after April 1.
This merit-based scholarship supports graduate students within Humanities (or related Humanities-based disciplines, such as Art History or Musicology), with preference for international students, participating in a study abroad program or independent research project. Candidates must be current students within the Division of Arts & Humanities. The scholarship amount is $1,000; up to two scholarships will be awarded.
- The Memorial Scholarship Application Form, which should be printed, completed, and placed at the front of the application packet.
- A 500-word statement or letter that describes the proposed study abroad program/project and activities.
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty members must accompany the application.
- Itemized budget statement. Be as detailed as possible. Per diems are not allowed.
