Featuring local and national artists who have made their voices heard through their art, activism and scholarship. Speakers include: Nona Faustine, Brooklyn based photographer and visual artist; Dionne Custer Edwards, literary artist, performing artist, arts administrator, educator, Ohio State alumna; Amy Leibrand, visual artist, research scientist at Battelle Memorial Institute, Ohio State alumna; Susan Van Pelt Petry, choreographer, performer, professor, Department of Dance.

This panel is being held in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Center’s exhibition, performances and conversations, Dare to be Heard, Sept. 23 to Nov. 5. The show arose out of a question posed during a 2013 exhibition looking back on a century of contemporary art as to why women have been excluded for centuries from the upper echelons of the art world. Dare to be Heard will give women artists — and women throughout the community — a space to raise their voices.
