Short Description: Sensory Friendly Day, an event planned by Anna Voelker, COSI Accessibility Intern who is a fourth-year student majoring in astronomy and physics.
Sensory Friendly Day employs a series of theater games created to teach science to kids with developmental disabilities while developing interpersonal skills, like eye contact and facial-expression recognition. This event was planned by Anna Voelker, COSI Accessibility Intern, a fourth-year student majoring in astronomy and physics. Voelker recruited and trained several other undergraduates to help out: Jack Warfield, Chase Wallace, Sarah Avdakov, Malinda Baer, Josh Machado and Isaac Delev.
Sensory Friendly Day
Explore COSI in a sensory-friendly environment! Specially developed activities will be held in Gallery 3 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sensory-friendly films and Planetarium shows will also take place on that day. Interactive theater are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
