Time: 7 p.m. Event Host: St. Thomas More Newman Center Short Description: The evening will have an engaging presentation on what is an encyclical, provide an overview of Pope Francis's new encyclical, Laudatio Si, and it will conclude with a panel discussion with the guest speakers. This event is free and open to all. The evening will have an engaging presentation on what is an encyclical, provide an overview of Pope Francis's new encyclical, Laudatio Si, and it will conclude with a panel discussion with the following guest speakers:- Jason Cervenec, education and outreach director for the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center. The diverse outreach portfolio of the center reaches approximately 11,000 individuals annually and includes programs in cutting edge science, science education, history and the arts. The most common request for information that Jason receives from the public is on climate change. - Dan Misleh,  founding executive director of the Catholic Climate Covenant, a Catholic organization focused on the nexus between the Catholic faith and climate change.- Greg Hitzhusen, assistant professor, School of Environment and Natural Resources and founding director of Ohio Interfaith Power and Light. His work and research center on the intersection of faith and the environment and on developing partnerships between scientific and faith communities. - Tony Losekampis, a student in evolution, ecology and organismal biology (EEOB) at Ohio State. He serves on the planning committee for Cardinal Turkson's visit to Ohio State. He will share a student perspective on the encyclical.​- Newman Center staff members will also be sharing during the evening.More information can be found at the Newman Center.
