Nur Amali Ibrahim is an anthropologist and an assistant professor at the Departments of Religious Studies and International Studies, Indiana University, Bloomington. His first book, Improvisational Islam: Indonesian Youths in a Time of Possibility, examines new and novel religious practices that emerged following Indonesia’s political transition from military authoritarianism to secular democracy. The lecture is organized by the Department of Comparative Studies. Co-sponsored by Department of Anthropology, International Studies, Center for the Study of Religion.
