Many factors influence cultural attitudes toward reading: school curricula, literary criticism, the cost of printing, and whether one reads alone or with others. This session focuses on reading as a social practice, a means of belonging to and participating in different kinds of communities.Participation in the GradSem is open to all students with an interest in literacy and its study.
