The GradSem includes students at every stage of study from across the University who meet monthly for lunch and a student-organized program and discussion. The meeting on October 7 will explore reading. Many factors influence cultural attitudes toward reading: school curricula, literary criticism, the cost of printing, and whether one reads alone or with others. This session focuses on reading as a social practice, a means of belonging to and participating in different kinds of communities.Participation in the GradSem is open to all students with an interest in literacy and its study.
