“Delivering a Safe and Patient-Centric Healthcare: Challenges and Opportunities,” is the topic of Sept. 2 Science Café.

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) reports that several thousand patients die every year due to preventable medical errors, and there are concerns of a lack of patient-centeredness to delivering care in hospitals. In this presentation Aravind Chandrasekaran, an associate professor in the Department of Management Sciences, will discuss how federal regulations and hospitals are tackling these challenges and the role of patients in designing a safe and patient-centric healthcare delivery.

Aravind Chandrasekaran is an associate professor in the Department of Management Sciences. He earned his PhD in business administration from the University of Minnesota. His research investigates innovation, learning and knowledge creation issues, in areas including high-tech R&D, manufacturing and health-care delivery. He is involved in a multi-year project on designing patient-centric healthcare delivery at the Wexner Medical Center.

All are welcome.
