Add to Calendar 2016-04-12 13:30:00 2016-04-12 14:30:00 Subject Matter Series - The Vienna of Sigmund Freud and his Interpretation of Dreams Time: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Event Host: Arts Initiative Paul Reitter, professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures; director of the Humanities Institute, will present a lecture, “The Vienna of Sigmund Freud and his Interpretation of Dreams," in conjunction with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s April 15-16 "Vienna 1900: Tradition & Modernism Festival." Reitter will provide an overview of Sigmund Freud’s revolutionary ideas of the mind, situated within the context of revolutionary Viennese art such as the painting of Egon Schiele and the journalist work of Karl Kraus.In a Town and Gown collaboration, the Subject Matter Series is a series of lectures presented by The Arts Initiative, Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise, in response to upcoming Columbus Symphony Orchestra performances.
