Arts District Featured in Columbus Dispatch

The Columbus Dispatch published a front-page article—“Ohio State to create world-class arts district”—on Monday, December 30, about the emerging arts district anchored at High Street and 15th Avenue.

The article, by Encarnacion Pyle, reported on the investment Ohio State is making over the next decade to create the district centering on its arts, dance, music and performing-art buildings, as well as the intention of connecting the district to the art galleries in the Short North and the museums, theaters and other artistic spaces downtown.

“We live in a wonderful city, and it makes sense for us to take advantage of the cultural gems that surround us and to expand the partnerships we already have with the various arts organizations,” Executive Dean David Manderscheid was quoted as saying.

The article also incorporated comments from Provost Joseph Steinmetz, CAPA’s William Conner, and Peggy Kriha Dye of Opera Columbus.

On Sunday, January 5, the Columbus Dispatch also published an editorial about the Arts District.
