Debbie Smith-Shank Named USSEA Fellow

Deborah Smith-Shank, professor and chair, Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy, has been chosen as one of three inaugural Kenneth Marantz USSEA Fellows by the United States Society for Education through Art (USSEA).  The program is designed to recognize exemplary contributions to the field of culturally inclusive art education and to USSEA, and outstanding service, leadership and dedication. The recognition is in honor of Ken Marantz, founder of USSEA, who died in 2014. The awards will be presented at the biennial USSEA conference.

“I am honored and humbled by this award named in honor of one of the people in our profession who meant so much to my department and to The Ohio State University. Ken Marantz passed away last year, and to be selected as one of the first Fellows in his name is bittersweet,” Smith-Shank said.
