Geography Launches New Majors!

The Department of Geography has announced the establishment of two new undergraduate majors: Atmospheric Sciences and Geographic Information Science (GIS).

Students interested in the power of nature, how climate change works and how to understand and predict severe storms will want to learn more about a career in Atmospheric Sciences. The new GIS major prepares students for careers in mapping and geospatial information professions. Digital mapping and GIS technology impacts millions of people daily and is rapidly transforming business operations, homeland security, tracking of diseases, police work, city and regional planning, and disaster prevention. Both majors are currently enrolling students for fall, 2011. For more information, contact Rick McClish, undergraduate advisor, mcclish.10@osu.edu
