Psychology Professor to Chair Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Risk Communication Advisory Committee (RCAC)

Ellen Peters, associate professor of psychology, was recently selected to chair the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Risk Communication Advisory Committee (RCAC) for the next 4 years. Peters had already served a two year term on the RCAC beginning in 2007.

Peters graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 with dual degrees in engineering and marketing. She received her MS and PhD from the University of Oregon in 1994 and 1998, respectively. She joined the faculty of the Department of Psychology at Ohio State in 2010.

Peters works extensively with the National Cancer Institute and the Food and Drug Administration to advance the science of human decision making as it applies to health and health policy.
