The Lantern, Ohio State's student newspaper, won 10 awards, including best website and best online sports reporting, at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 competition. Of the eight other awards, seven The Lantern stories and photos earned second-place honors and one submission was awarded third place. Region 4 includes Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The national, 12-region contest received over 4,000 entries.

The honorees were awarded certificates on March 24 at Michigan State University. The Lantern first-place honorees have advanced to the national finals and those winners will be announced in late April.
