OUTSTANDING TEACHING AWARD

The award honors exceptional teaching by one of our more than 1,000 outstanding arts and sciences faculty members. Students say Outstanding Teaching Award Winner, English Professor Wendy Hesford changes how they view the world, pushes them to grow and creates a positive learning environment. One said, “She introduced me to Nancy Mairs' memoir, Waist High in the World. It raised issues such as handicap efficiency, accessibility and point of view. It changed the way I look at the world around me. I started analyzing the structure of buildings…and realized just how uninviting the world must feel to individuals with disabilities.”
