Gretchen RitterThis year, Ohio State’s sesquicentennial, is an exciting time that brings opportunities for celebration and reflection. While the arts and sciences have been central to fulfilling our land-grant commitment from the very beginning, 2020 marks only 10 years since the reunification of our College of Arts and Sciences.

While we are a young college, Arts and Sciences is central to the university’s mission and goals. Guided by its strategic plan, Time and Change, Ohio State aspires to be one of the top public research universities in the nation. This simply cannot happen if the College of Arts and Sciences — Ohio State’s bedrock of teaching, discovery and creativity — isn’t moving in the same direction.

During 2020, the College of Arts and Sciences will develop its own, new strategic plan that will define our priorities and invite input from our faculty, students, staff and other stakeholders. A steering committee has been formed to guide this process, but this plan belongs to our entire college community. We will not succeed without your partnership and feedback.

I am looking forward to your ideas, perspectives and expertise as we embark on this process together and shape the future of the College of Arts and Sciences for the next decade and beyond.
