New leadership always brings change. Being able to tap into the vast talent within the university and the arts and sciences ensures positive, progressive change. At the college level, our new leadership is poised to take us in some exciting new directions. Our new department chairs and center directors are serious scholars and vibrant teachers who bring unique perspectives to their disciplines.

This October, Ian Howat, assistant professor, School of Earth Sciences, will receive a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) at a dinner at the White House. Howat studies the state of the earth’s large ice sheets, using data collected from space satellites as a primary observational tool.
