Entrepreneurship is a hot topic in the art world. Public funding agencies and private foundations seek to foster entrepreneurial and business skills in individual artists, to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit in cultural districts and creative cities, and to provide venture capital for new arts-based companies and projects.
The symposium will take place in the Barnett Center on Thursday, September 18 at 5 p.m. and Friday, September 19 at 9 a.m.
The symposium includes a keynote address from Barbara Nicholson and a full day of symposium events on Friday, followed by a private performance of Sullivant's Travels, a site-specific promenade work by renowned director/choreographer Stephan Koplowitz, created for the grand opening of Sullivant Hall the following day, September 20.
The Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Symposium on the Arts and Public Policy is organized by The Ohio State University Graduate Program in Arts Policy and Administration and is presented with the support of the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy.
