New contemporary choreography by master of fine arts (MFA) candidates, presented in two spaces, one downtown and one on campus.
Choreographers are Megan Davis and Ani Javian. Admission is free.
In Elsewhere, choreographer Ani Javian explores seclusion and detachment. Intimate seating along the runway-shaped stage places audiences close to the performance, contrasting the work's emotional distance. Collaborators include NYC-based sound-designer James Lo and local visual artist Leah Frankel.
Through an integration of materials — the dancing body, art objects and film — Trace Forms, performed by a quartet of dancers and choreographed by Megan Davis, finds intersections in the visual and performing arts, bridging distinct forms in both process and product.
Performance times at the Urban Arts Space location include:
Thursday, Feb. 5: 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 6: 6 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 7: 1 p.m.
There will be a reception at the Urban Arts Space on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.
