How to Create an Endowment
We can help you start an endowment with The Ohio State University in four easy steps:
- GIVE US A CALL
We are happy to discuss your charitable or estate-planning goals.
- DECIDE THE TYPE AND PURPOSE OF YOUR FUND
The Ohio State University and the College of Arts and Sciences offer a wide variety of endowment types to satisfy your charitable giving needs now and in the future. You may establish an endowment to furnish discretionary funds and support undergraduate and graduate students, academic programs, laboratories and facilities, or faculty fellowships, professorships and chairs.
- DETERMINE WHEN AND HOW MUCH TO GIVE
A minimum initial gift of $50,000 in cash, appreciated securities or other real property can establish an unrestricted endowed fund; or a minimum $100,000 gift will establish a restricted endowed fund. Endowment gifts may be paid over a five-year period; however, the payout will not be distributed until the pledge has been paid in full.
- NAME YOUR FUND
Many donors choose to give their fund their name, their family’s name or in memory of a loved one. If you wish to remain anonymous, you might select a name that reflects your fund’s academic goal.
Once you complete and sign your fund agreement, we will begin to serve your endowment’s objectives, ensuring that your wishes will be met in perpetuity. We will send you and/or your advisor activity reports annually to help you keep track of your endowment.
