Bailey Gensheimer graduates in May, armed for an exceptional research career. The undergraduate from Lexington, Kentucky, won fellowships and grant funding for field trips to Kentucky and Kenya to do independent research on the spiny mouse. She also served her department as outreach coordinator, TA and peer mentor.
Jordan Henry traveled to Berlin, London, Normandy, Paris and Krakow to take part in The U.S., Europe and the Second World War – Intersections in 20th Century History program.
Mary Grace Thibault, a fourth-year student majoring in atmospheric sciences and anthropology, is a member of the Ohio State Meteorology Club and a weather spotter, with the SKYWARN program. She also participated in the May 2016 education abroad program in Ireland where she was given the opportunity to take part in archaeological excavations.
Over spring break, Asha Whitfield, a senior dance major, traveled with a group of 11 dance majors—nine undergraduates and two graduate students—to Salvador, Brazil to perform and engage with the rich Brazilian culture. The ensemble of dancers performed in schools, community centers, studios and theatres around Salvador.
Sreelakshmi Suresh is majoring in Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology and minoring in French. She currently is studying abroad in Costa Rica learning about Environmental Sustainability.
For myself, I’ve always wanted to go to India. Its history and culture (not to mention the delicious food) have always interested me. I also have a bit of a humanitarian bent, which matches perfectly with the public health focus of my program.
During the Public Health Perspectives – India study abroad program, I had the unique and life-changing experience of spending four weeks studying public health while living on the outstanding campus of Manipal University. Before this program began, I had a very limited idea of what to expect in India.
As a double major in International Relations and Diplomacy and Spanish, my original goal of traveling to Chile was to practice Spanish. Although the Spanish language inspires me and captures my attention, I left Chile with a passion for Latin America and its complex role on the world stage.
