Event Host: Department of Art
Cinema, Expanded explores many different forms of contemporary moving image work that attempt to challenge the traditional single-projector black box theatrical screening. In order to enable this exploration, the gallery will transform into a white-walled cinema setting for a series of performances by some of the most significant contemporary projection performance artists from both the US and abroad, as well as a few major works from the expanded cinema canon (including Anthony McCall’s Light Describing a Cone). Regular evening programming during the run of the show will feature a range of performances demonstrating the enormous range of possibilities within the field of expanded cinema. This series is organized by the Department of Art's Roger Beebe.
