Event Host: ASC Career Success
Employers regularly report to Career Success that college graduates need to improve their communication skills (speaking, writing, reading, etc.). In addition, according to research from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), oral/written communication skills are one of the Critical Career Readiness Competencies that college graduates need proficiency in, to be prepared for the modern workforce. This Development Academy will help students develop these much needed skills!
During this session you will:
- Gain an understanding of the purpose and structure of each Development Academy session.
- Become familiar with the Career Competencies employers are seeking.
- Identify the characteristics of an effective communicator.
- Understand the qualities needed to be considered an effective communicator.

While you are encouraged to attend all the sessions that are part of this Development Academy, you do not need to commit to the entire series. You are welcome to attend only the sessions that you feel are most applicable to your situation. The sessions in these series are as follows:

- 10/22/2020: Week 2 - Communicating You
- 10/29/2020: Week 3 - Oral Communication/Conversation
- 11/5/2020: Week 4 - Formal Written Communication/Conversation
- 11/12/2020: Week 5 - Obstacles to Effective Communication/Conversation, Student Presentations and Celebration
