Event Host: ASC Career Success
The Department of Linguistics and the Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success are hosting, Life Beyond Degree: Linguistics, a two-part series planned exclusively for linguistics majors and minors.
Join us Monday, March 25th from 6-7pm in 103 Oxley Hall for Life Beyond Degree Linguistics, Part 1: Network with Impact, an interactive presentation where you’ll learn best practices and effective strategies for networking.
This engaging workshop will help you understand the characteristics of a good elevator pitch and why it's necessary. You’ll learn how to incorporate the career readiness competencies into your elevator pitch and have the opportunity to prepare and practice your own. You will then be equipped to implement the strategies learned in this workshop when connecting with alumni during Life Beyond Degree Linguistics, Part 2: Mix and Mingle with Linguistics Alumni which will take place the following week. Additional content covered during Part 1 includes utilizing social media to connect with alumni and employers.
You are encouraged to register for both Parts 1 & 2 of Life Beyond Degree: Linguistics. Life Beyond Degree (LBD) events support students in the Discovery Phase by increasing their awareness of career options and career readiness competencies (CRCs) through interactions with alumni and other Career Success Champions.
