Racism 101: An Open Conversation with White Students
Time: 3:30-5 p.m.
Event Host: Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies
Short Description: In this campus dialogue, we will talk about what racism is, how it is perpetuated and why so many white people do not acknowledge or see racism in America today.
Not racist? Most white people do not consider themselves to be racist or to condone racism. Yet, with so many people saying or believing they are NOT racist, how can there still be racism? In this campus dialogue, it will be talked about what racism is, how it is perpetuated and why so many white people do not acknowledge or see racism in America today. If you are confident that you are NOT a racist, this dialogue is for you. If you believe yourself to be against racism, but don't know how to talk about or explain racism, this dialogue is for you. This dialogue will be facilitated by WGSS Professor and Chair Shannon Winnubst and WGSS Professor Jennifer Suchland.
