Jacques Rancière is a French philosopher, Professor of Philosophy at European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, and Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris VIII: Vincennes—Saint-Denis. He is one of the most read and influential philosophers writing today. Rancière has published many works dealing with concepts including theories of democracy, disagreement, and visual aesthetics. More recently, he has written on the topic of human rights and the role of international human rights organizations. He is the keynote speaker of this two-day Symposium Program.
