Collaborative Creativity Builds HOUSE / DIVIDED

Ohio State theatre students have helped build HOUSE / DIVIDED (inspired by The Grapes of Wrath), the new multimedia theater production by New York theater company The Builders Association. The show, which has its premiere at Ohio State this week, was created over the past year and involved students and faculty from many areas at Ohio State, including the Department of Theatre. Phil Garrett, lecturer and MFA student, not only was involved in the research and creation of the work, but also spent two weeks in a residency with The Builders Association over the summer in New York City, along with graduate student Francesca Spedalieri. While in the Big Apple, Garrett was able to assist the designers as they built the look of the show, complete video documentation, and join the show as a cast member for a preview at the Baryshnikov Center in July. He plays four characters in the HOUSE / DIVIDED performances October 6-8 at Ohio State, in the Thurber Theatre, Drake Performance Center.
