Marching Band on Hand for Congressional Honor Ceremony

Russel Mikkelson, Jack Nicklaus and Chris Hoch

Fifteen members of The Ohio State University Marching Band, led by Christopher Hoch, associate director, and Russel Mikkelson, director of bands, traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in a March 24 ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda honoring Jack Nicklaus with the Congressional Gold Medal. Leaders of the U.S. House and Senate presented the medal to Nicklaus in recognition of his many contributions to the game of golf and his service to the community and the nation. The event was attended by Speaker of the House John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and members of Congress, along with Donald Trump and fellow golf legend Arnold Palmer. The Marching Band played the National Anthem and several Buckeye school songs to honor Nicklaus's accomplishments and philanthropic efforts.
