Farah Godrej, Associate Professor of Politics at University of California, Riverside, will discuss "Gandhi, Yogic Self-Control and Food Justice" at the Mershon Center. She will explore how Gandhi enlists the notion of self-discipline from India’s yogic traditions, reinterpreting them as specifically political solutions for the incursions of modern civilization and imperial rule into the body. She will also raise questions about whether Gandhi’s yogic solution can address contemporary issues of neoliberalism.
