Hopkins Hall Gallery Summer Series presents Bodies at Rest: Bound Up in this Place by Mona Gazala.
Bodies at Rest: Bound Up in this Place is an installation that arose out of the artist Mona Gazala's experiences living in inner-city Columbus and the opportunities it afforded her as an “urban archaeologist” exploring gutted and abandoned dwellings. The work serves to blur the lines between ancient ruins and urban blight and addresses modern-day social issues regarding displacement and relocation. Accompanying the installation will be a second interactive piece entitled Unlit Corners. Gallery visitors will be invited to contribute their own written words to this collection of personal statements on crisis and loss.
On view June 9 - 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Reception: June 12 from 3 to 4 p.m.
