Visiting scholar István Povedák lectures on “The Sacralization of Nation: How Neonationalism Affects Vernacular Culture in Post-Socialist Hungary”. Povedák is pursuing a project comparing celebrity images of Hungarian Romani and Afro-American heroes and stars. He will discuss changes in how Hungarian subcultures relate to their national consciousness.
