Alumna Jan Dilenschneider (BS, fine arts education, 1965) will be traveling to Paris in July for the opening of the second exhibition of her oil paintings at Galerie Pierre-Alain Challier, 8 Rue Debelleyme. Following the success of Dilenschneider's showing last year of her still lifes and landscapes, the gallery will be devoting its main summer exhibition to her work.
The exhibition, titled, “It is a beautiful world, what are we doing to protect it?” will feature 34 paintings by Dilenschneider. The works highlight Dilenschneider's concern about the ecological damage done to our planet and the continued threat to our trees, rivers and vegetation.
Of the 34 paintings to be shown, the French magazine Madame Figaro described them as "dynamic: always connected with nature, her densely painted artworks seem to express perpetual motion."
“I am greatly influenced by living on Long Island Sound – the beautiful old trees, crystal blue water, elegant grasses and birds,” said Dilenschneider. “I see a painting in everything – spring green leaves against bright blue skies, or misty trees that fade to blue-gray. The beauty of the world right outside my door is my inspiration.”
