The College of Arts and Sciences Marketing and Communications team went behind the scenes of the university's upcoming performance of Carmina Burana, which is a collaboration between the School of Music and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD). Brilliant lights and images will accompany the classic cantata, thanks to customized technology designed by ACCAD specifically for this production.
On Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, the Choral Department at Ohio State will present two performances of Carl Orff’s masterpiece, Carmina Burana. While this iconic work enjoys perennial performance, it is rarely realized with the visual dimension that Orff originally indicated. For this production, Alex Oliszewski, assistant professor of Theatrical Media Design and Media Devising, has partnered with Anna Gawboy, associate professor of Music Theory, to lead the creation of a digital-visual design.
An invitation to participate was extended to all university professionals, and more than 40 non-music faculty/staff will take part in the performance, which will be led by Maestro Richard Bjella, guest conductor. This will truly be a collaborative and innovative effort, celebrating the entire campus community.
