Binder, professor of political science, George Washington University, and senior fellow at the Brookings Institute. A reception follows the talk. Binder is an expert on Congress and legislative politics. Her work includes studies of the politics of the Senate filibuster, the causes and consequences of legislative gridlock, and the politics and practice of advice and consent for selecting federal judges. Her current research explores Congress's relationship with the Federal Reserve (today and over the Fed's first century). The Ohio State University Democracy Studies program is a nonpartisan initiative dedicated to nurturing the American people’s understanding of its own self-government. The program supports continuous scholarly examination of American democracy’s norms, procedures, and institutions, as they develop, in light of democracy’s inevitable transformations through history.
