Chris Landreth is one of the most influential independent animators working today. Based in Canada, the artist and filmmaker is perhaps most associated with the concept of “psychorealism,” his practice of visualizing a character’s internal trauma through digitally rendered deformities and lacerations. This evening’s program of shorts includes his visually stunning, Oscar-winning Ryan (2004). (program approx. 52 mins., digital video)

Program:

  • The Listener (1991, 1:16 mins.)
  • Data Driven: The Story of Franz K (1993, 2:45 mins.)
  • The End (1995, 6:18 mins.)
  • Bingo (1998, 5:35 mins.)
  • Ryan (2004, 13:54 mins.)
  • The Spine (2009, 11 mins.)
  • Subconscious Password (2013, 11:15 mins.)
